-he shared the most important moment of my life with me- my dad came to pray with me one night before bed when I was 5 years old. I told him I was ready to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and put my faith and trust in HIM! Even though it was 21 years ago, I still remember sitting on my bed with my dad that night and asking Jesus to come into my heart (side note- I literally thought Jesus was in my heart as one day I was breathing into a ventilator trying to give Jesus air)!
-my dad came into each of my siblings and my room's and knelt by our beds to pray for us EVERY night growing up-even in junior high and high school when I often pretended I was "sleeping," he still knelt there and prayed for me!
-my dad is one of the most caring and most generous people I have ever met!
-I love my dad's heart for people and teaching them more about Christ!
-growing up in Manhattan, Montana my dad was "the voice of the tigers." Kinda cool to have my dad as the announcer for our varsity basketball and volleyball games!
-my dad is one of the most humble people I know( for many reasons but one is...)- His first book The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative won Preaching Magazine Book of the Year and Christianity Today Merit Award Winner. He didn't tell us until a few weeks later, and even then didn't tell very many people!
-While Manny and I were dating and engaged, my dad and Manny got together weekly, and they often studied the Bible together! This is something Manny now does with his brothers.
-I had the privilege of my dad marrying Manny and I! Even with strict instructions not to cry during my wedding ceremony- he still did, but he made it a very special and memorable ceremony (and day!) for us!
Thank you Dad for all you have done for me and for those around you! Words cannot express how much you mean to me and how blessed I am to have you as my Dad! I am so thankful we can celebrate YOU today! Happy Birthday!
My dad and I on my wedding day!
