Madden's Arrival

On June 30, 2016 we arrived at the hospital at 7 am for my scheduled c-section. Since I knew what to expect this time, I had the day practically planned out in regards to visitors and when Gabriella would come to the hospital. I felt pretty gross during my recovery last time so I came prepared. Well.....things didn't go as planned (as usual!)...
Everything started out great- my doctor was ahead of schedule so by 8:30 am we were in the delivery room. They started my c-section....AND.... I could feel everything.... it was NOT pleasant.  But it was all worth it because at 9:03 am, baby screams filled the room and Madden Jax had arrived.  The NICU team noticed Madden's oxygen level wouldn't stay up so they had to take him to the NICU. They did let me see him before he and Manny headed off to the NICU.
Madden weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. He was put on oxygen in the NICU to help his breathing and into the incubator he went. My nurse wheeled me through the NICU to see him on our way from the recovery room to my regular hospital room. After spending about 4 hours in my room, I was able to get up and be wheeled to the NICU to see my little man.

Gabriella came to visit us in the hospital and was totally freaked out seeing me in a hospital bed, and she lost it when the nurses were helping me. After that initial visit, she acted like she owned the room and had a great time climbing all over everything.
Once the NICU doctor decided that Madden would need more than a few days in the NICU, we asked to be discharged and headed home to sleep in our own bed. And then our NICU adventure began... :)
