We headed to our church's Christmas Eve service at 2 pm so we could be home in time to get everything ready for Christmas Eve. We didn't realize there was no childcare so our kids were in the service with us. It was fun to have them and Gabriella loved the singing, but I was totally unprepared (no snacks, activities, toys to keep them quiet). 45 minutes is a VERY long time when you are trying to keep kids quiet (ha!).
Manny's family came over about 4:30-5 pm and we ate lots of food, played games, opened gifts (which was pure chaos), and celebrated Nick's 19th Birthday!
Gabriella opened one present-playdough- and wanted nothing to do with opening any other presents! We had a blast with everyone and were pretty exhausted by the end of the night. Thankfully, we had a very relaxing Christmas Day (with way to much leftover food!).
We were up early with Madden and couldn't wait for Gabriella to wake up and see their new wagon full of presents.
Christmas was bittersweet this year as it was the first Christmas without Manny's mom. We only had a few months to process her death before the holidays were upon us, and at times, it was hard. We were so thankful for those who were praying for us, especially over the holiday season-those prayers were definitely felt! Even though there was some sadneess, we had a lot to be thankful for this Christmas, and we are most thankful for the gift of our Savior and the celebration of his birth!
That's a wrap on Christmas 2016...
