Homemade Oreo Cookies

Do you like Oreo cookies?! These are even better! I'll never forget the first time I had one in high school.... it was love at first taste. Mmmmmmmm so good! I've been making them ever since, and they are always a hit. These are great for any season, and a fun little touch is to dye the icing to coordinate with the season or even a favorite color.

1 box Devil's food cake mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla

4 oz. cream cheese
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cup powdered sugar

The Cookies: Mix devil's food cake mix, eggs, shortening, and vanilla together. Use 1 Tablespoon of dough and shape into balls. Bake at 350 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes. Cool and fill with filling.

The Filling: Cream the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar together and then refrigerate.

This makes about 20 cookies
