San Diego

San Diego, in my opinion, is one of the prettiest places in Southern California! We love coming here and thankfully for us, we are only an hour and a half away, which makes San Diego the perfect day trip destination.

We've spent a weekend on Coronado Island and have made numerous day trips to different parts of San Diego. This is one of our favorite places to take people when they come visit and has become a new favorite place to explore with our kids.

Some of our favorite places in San Diego:
La Jolla: La Jolla is the cutest beach town! We love to walk through town down to La Jolla Cove and walk along the coast. It is so pretty and a great place to see seals and sea lions. On our last trip, we even discovered a small stretch of the beach where our kids could get in and play in the water.

Coronado Island: For our first wedding anniversary, we stayed in a friend's condo on beautiful Coronado Island. This is the perfect place to walk or bike around to see the island. It is also home to the famous Hotel Del Coronado.

U.S.S Midway Museum: San Diego is full of museums, and one that we have visited is the U.S.S Midway, one of America's longest serving aircraft carriers. We loved being able to walk around and explore the ship to see what life was like and to check out all the aircraft carriers. It is seriously amazing  how they can take off and land planes from the flight deck. Our kids loved sitting in all of the airplanes/helicopters and exploring the ship.

San Diego Safari Park: San Diego is also home to many other attractions- Sea World, LegoLand, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park. We have plans to visit these (I'll update this post when we do) but haven't quite gotten around to it. We did visit the San Diego Safari Park early on in our marriage when my work hosted a company picnic there. It is quite the trek to walk around and look at everything (and it was hot!), but we had a great time seeing all the animals.

Food we liked:
Sandbox Pizza (Pacific Beach)
Smashburger (La Jolla)
Sprinkles Cupcakes (La Jolla)
Ballast Point Brewery (Little Italy)

If you have visited San Diego, please give us recommendations of your favorite activities and places to eat! We are always looking for suggestions. Until next time San Diego...

  1. We love San Diego. We haven't been there in a few years, but I would definitely love to go back.
