Happy Tuesday! It's one of my favorite days of the month because I love sharing what I have been reading and then linking up and finding more books to read! :) April felt like kind of a dud when it came to reading. I couldn't get into some of these and none of them really stood out, but maybe they are ones that you will like?! So here we go....
One True Loves
is a book that a lot of people have recommended, and it has been on my list for a long time so I couldn't wait to start reading it. It's about a woman who marries her high school sweetheart, and he goes missing in a helicopter accident right before their first anniversary. She rebuilds her life and a few years later falls in love again and finds herself engaged only to get a phone call that her husband is still alive. I was torn with this book. I really liked reading it, the story line was really interesting, and I finished it in less than two days. But I didn't like the ending. Now I do have to say that the book wraps up really well, it just wasn't the ending I was hoping for and left me with a weird feeling. It's probably just me...anyone else read this?! What did you think??!!!
This was a light and easy read about a culinary star and blogger who is hacked and has her secrets revealed. She loses everything and returns to her childhood home only to find she isn't welcome. I thought this was a cute story and a nice change from not really liking the first two books I read this month.
This was an interesting read about all the details surrounding the explosion of the Columbia. I know nothing about NASA and honestly have never really had much of an interest, but I found this book interesting and I enjoyed reading about something I know next to nothing about. The book goes through some things before the mission, the day of the explosion, and the days surrounding as the recovered it. There was A LOT of detail about the recovery, but it was interesting.
My last book this month was Almost Missed You, and I liked this one! This book is about a woman who is vacationing at the beach with her husband and son and returns to her hotel room to find her husband and son gone. This book alternates between view points-the woman, her husband, and her best friend. There were some secrets and things I didn't see coming. I couldn't wait to find out how it all played out.
I am in desperate need of some good book recommendations so what have you been reading lately?!

Almost Missed You sounds intriguing and Hello, Sunshine sounds like a great beach vaca read. thanks for recommending!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed One True Loves. I feel like it was hard because you find yourself really not knowing which is the right decision.
ReplyDeleteI love Taylor Jenkins Reid. She's probably my favorite of the chick lit authors.
ReplyDeleteI'm #3 on the waiting list for A Woman In The Window!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look into Taylor Jenkins Reid's book.
I have not read One True Loves but I'm worried that I won't like the ending so I keep putting it on the back-burner. Hello Sunshine looks like a great beach read. I think it's already on my TBR, if not it is getting added!
ReplyDeleteoh, bummer you didn't love The Woman in the Window. it took me a bit to get into, but then i enjoyed it overall. it's not my kind of book, so i was surprised. oh man, i loved one true loves. i guess that's the risk you run when there are two options like that.. i liked the ending the way it was (like 100% no contest). have you read her other, Maybe in another life? i'd be curious if you have or will, to see if we share the same opinion on that one lol.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I read Almost Missed You, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteLoved The Woman in the Window. I didn't mind the slowness as they built her character.
The Woman in the Window really picked up in the 2nd half. I would recommend maybe the audio? I found myself cooking/cleaning/etc and not wanting to stop as it got closer to the end.
ReplyDeleteOh that's so interesting that you didn't love the ending of One True Loves...when I was reading it, I definitely felt torn for a bit in the middle there and of course I have no idea what I would do if I ever found myself in a similar situation which was interesting to think about but I loved the ending hands-down and found it sooo well done. I liked The Woman in the Window and didn't see parts of it coming so it worked for me but it wasn't the best ever.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about The Woman in the Window, but I HAVE heard varying things so it doesn't seem like you're the only one. I still haven't read One True Loves either, but again, I do want to check it out at some point.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find some great May reads!!

I enjoyed One True Loves...the story sucked me in and kept me turning pages. I haven't read Woman in the Window yet, it seems to have gotten mixed reviews. I started Hello Sunshine on audio and stopped but I think I will pick up the hard copy on vacation next month. Pam :)
ReplyDeleteOne True Loves was really hyped up for me as well. I felt a little disappointed by it. I didn't mind the ending, but mostly I was just really sad for ALL of the characters! :( XO - Alexandra
