May was a FUN month. We did a lot and thanks to the weather FINALLY cooperating we headed downtown Chicago a few times. And that is always a blast. We also had a few mini trips in May so the month really flew by. The weather changed from snowing to raining and warm weather so everything instantly turned green or looked a lot like this...
Manny traveled to Georgia for business at the beginning of May so after Gabriella finished speech therapy for the week, we headed down to central IL to see our family there. We stayed one night with my sis-in-law and my adorable niece (terrible auntie forgot to take any pictures). The only picture I have is this...
you can imagine how well I slept that night...
The next morning my sis-in-law headed to work and we were off to see my grandma and spend some time with her. My kids love going to "grannun's house". We did a whole lot of nothing and it was perfect.
my grandma's friend owns a flower shop so we stopped in to visit her. Gabriella is currently obsessed with blue and asked to see a blue flower so she gave Gabriella this!
Manny got home on a Friday so Saturday we headed into Chicago to visit the Lincoln Park Zoo. This was the first time ever that Manny, Gabriella, and Madden have been to a zoo. The kids LOVED it. It was a gorgeous day at a gorgeous zoo!
Baseball season started so we were at games for two nephews. Another one of the reasons we love living here-we get to go to all of their activities. Baseball nights are a big favorite for our kids, especially playing on the playground and buying out the snack bar.
Uncle Luke was in town for a few days and we all loved getting to see him!
The kids and I went and visited the historic Wagner Farm one morning and just loved it. It is the cutest little farm outside Chicago. We walked around to see all the animals and then went inside to do some interactive things (milk a fake cow, collect fake chicken eggs etc).
This month Madden started consistently climbing out of his crib so we converted it to a toddler bed. The first night I had to walk him back to bed three times and confiscate cars twice after that before he fell asleep. And then it was a terrible nights sleep as he adjusted and fell out etc so we bought a railing the next day and it has been much better. He is really good about staying in it and going to sleep. It's the getting up reallllly early that we struggle with #hello5am.
Manny and I celebrated our 9th anniversary on May 22nd and stayed downtown Chicago for a night to celebrate.
And last, over Memorial Day weekend we drove to central Illinois to see family and then visit Lincoln's Presidential Museum in Springfield. The museum is really interesting, and we really liked walking though parts of Springfield and exploring a new area.
That's a wrap for May! Whew! I've probably mentioned it a million times now, but we really LOVE living here and getting to explore around here and our new state of residence!
