What's Up Wednesday {8.28.19}

What's Up Wednesday?! I am so glad it is the end of August and we are heading into the FALL months! Fa-la-la-la-la

Here is a little of what is going on here...

1. WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK
SMOKED MEATS! Manny bought a smoker a few weeks ago and has been smoking lots of meat. We LOVE it!  So far we (...well he) have done chicken and roast. Those of you who smoke food please let me know your favorites. We are looking for new things to try!

2. WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT:
The start of preschool last year (which wasn't until almost the end of October-that's a different story). The start of preK this year has had me reminiscing about Gabriella starting preschool last year and how much she has grown (literally and figuratively!) since then. Here she is on her first day last year:

And then here she is last Thursday!

3. WHAT I'M LOVING
Cooler weather! It's been in the 70's some days and even dropped into the 60's. We have had a few bonfires at night and it is starting to feel like Fall. Woo hoo!

4. WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO
See #6....getting organized, getting back into a routine, and enjoying cooler weather! This past Friday we visited one of our favorite orchards and farm park (Apple Holler) with cousins. The weather was cool and we practically had the place to ourselves!

5. WHAT I'M DREADING
Nothing at the moment :)

6. WHAT I'M WORKING ON
Getting my life organized! Ha but seriously I feel like I am currently working on everything and getting nothing done at the same time. Gabriella started school so we are trying to get into a whole new routine with that. I am trying to get organized with my meal planning, grocery shopping, and running errands plus adding in new activities for the Fall.

I started a new series on Mondays on my blog so I have been working on that too. If you've been reading this blog lately, then you know I work part-time from home teaching English to kids in China. It's been a fun and  fulfilling job and I love sharing it because it has been such a blessing to me. So now on Mondays I will be posting VIPKID related things as a resource for current teachers and to help new teachers get started.  This past Monday I posted an overview of teaching ESL online and my story HERE.

7. WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT
Getting back into a routine (woo hoo!!!!!!) Don't get me wrong, I love summer and come June I am always ready for a break from everything and no commitments but by August I am SO ready for a routine again. I am much more productive that way.

8. WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING
Currently watching The Real Housewives of (whatever city is on!) and Dateline. I am so ready for our shows to start back up again this Fall. As for reading, I have been reading some great books lately.

I just finished this book and loved it! It was motivational and encouraging in my faith.

I am currently reading this book and can hardly put it down! I love Mary Kay Andrew's books. They are great beach reads and this one has a mystery thrown in.

9. WHAT I'M LISTENING TO
Baby Shark... at home. in the car. All.the.time. My 3 year old LOVES that song and I constantly hear "Ahhexa baby shark"  (good thing Alexa can't understand him!) or "Mom phone baby shark". He will carry my phone around and listen to baby shark all day long. Ha!

10. WHAT I'M WEARING
Still wearing mostly workout clothes because my day is so broken up I can hardly find time to shower and get ready after I go to the gym in the am. So workout clothes it is until the evening :)

11. WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND
I am taking my kids to visit my grandma overnight (she lives 2 hours away) and we will be visiting one of our favorite Orchards to load up on sweet corn. Otherwise just relaxing.

12. WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
Pumpkins and all things FALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13. WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Nothing that I can think of!

Happy Wednesday friends!!!!!!!!

  2. My daily outfit sounds very similar--ha ha! Sounds like you are having a good end to summer! Seeing you go to the apple orchard has me excited to take my family.
